March 2012 marks a new chapter for many of us at Cinecraft. A number of us have been in the film industry for almost two decades. 2012 also marks the death throes of film and the real acceptance of digital, whether be it for acquisition or for delivery. The new generation of digital 35mm CMOS cameras like the Sony F3, Canon C300, and Red Scarlet have opened the doors for many film makers to deliver truly filmic images at a price that is affordable. This is why we are so excited at Cinecraft to use these tools to their fullest, and to achieve the vision that the directors we work with demand for, on time and within budget.
We kick of the beginnings of Cinecraft with a bang! On March 22, we begin production of ‘Kisah Paling Gengster’, to be directed by Brando Lee. It will star the hottest star in Malaysian cinema at the moment, Shaheizy Sam. Incidentally, Abbie Wong, our lighting director/gaffer also worked with Sam on his previous film, Songlap. This film will also mark the first time we will be shooting with S-LOG on our Sony F3 to give us a dynamic range approaching that of the Alexa, but at a budget that comes in significantly below.
We will keep our blog here updated as the production goes on and also through our Twitter feed.
